Spring Flings & Easter Things - An Eggs-traordinary Success at Moat Park

April 10, 2018

Hundreds enjoyed the first ‘Spring Flings & Easter Things’ event in Moat Park, Dundonald on Easter Saturday.

This event was jointly funded by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council and the Department for Communities to promote the new outdoor performance area at this popular park which has been created with financial support from both organisations.

The event was packed with activities for all ages with the younger ones particularly enjoying the inflatable bouncy castle and mega slide, funfair rides and appearances from Batman and Elsa.

The new outdoor performance space provided the ideal stage for performances from, Dundonald Community Concert Band, Dundonald High School Choir, and a local dance troupe from G & L Elite Dance Studio.

Alderman James Tinsley, Chairman of the Council’s Leisure & Community Development Committee speaking about the event said: “It was great to see so many brave the brisk spring weather to attend this family event and have fun.  The closing act ‘The Diva Dolls’ helped to warm everyone up by playing a range of songs that had everyone either tapping their feet, dancing or clapping along to.  The Council enjoys seeing its parks being used by everyone and we hope to build a programme of events at this new outdoor performance space, which is also available for community groups to use.”

‘Spring Flings & Easter Things’ offered something for all the family, from young to old including craft workshops, walkabout characters, performances of ‘The Mad Hatters Tea Party’, by C21 Theatre Company, a petting farm and play areas suitable for small children which was autism friendly.
