Sporting Heroes launch Council's Coach Education Programme

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council was delighted to welcome Olympic silver medallist Sharon Davies, Olympic legend Dame Mary Peters and former Irish rugby and renowned strength & conditioning coach, Mike McGurn to launch the Council’s popular coach education programme.
The annual programme includes nearly 20 courses which are aimed at helping those involved in a sports coaching role to obtain the skills to develop their Club and get the best out of their players or athletes. Courses include First Aid, Safeguarding Children, Sports Nutrition, Disability Inclusion to name but a few.
Speaking at the launch of the programme, the Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Thomas Beckett said, “I am delighted to welcome sporting legends Sharon Davies, Dame Mary Peters and Mike McGurn to the Lisburn & Castlereagh area. Their sporting success is a true inspiration to local sports clubs who are aiming to compete at the highest level and nurture the next generation of sporting stars.”
