Reception held to mark the end of the Hard2Guard Basketball Camp
August 24, 2016
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council recently hosted a reception to celebrate the end of a great week of basketball at Lagan Valley LeisurePlex.
The Hard2Guard Basketball Camp, which attracted over 100 young people, included players and coaches from Molina Basketball Club, Spain, Multnomah College, Oregon and local basketball club, Phoenix Basketball Club. The Camp provided basketball enthusiasts of all ages, with the opportunity to improve their skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Speaking at the reception, the Chairman of the Leisure & Community Development Committee, Councillor Tim Morrow said, “I extend a warm welcome to the players and coaches of Molina Basketball Club and Multnomah College, who all have travelled a great distance to be a part of the basketball camp – you are all most welcome to the Lisburn & Castlereagh City area.
“I would like to particularly welcome one of Northern Ireland’s top basketball clubs, Phoenix Basketball Club, whom without their contribution, this camp would not have taken place. I am pleased to say that over the years, the Club has developed a great relationship with Lagan Valley LeisurePlex and I have no doubt that this relationship will continue to flourish.
“The week-long Hard2Guard camp, which took place at Lisburn Racquets Club, is a prime example of how sport brings people together from across the world, encourages physical activity and personal development.
“I extend my sincere thanks to everyone involved in making this event happen, especially to Breda and her team who have been instrumental to its success,” concluded Councillor Morrow.
