Purple Turnip Festival Returns to Lisburn City Centre

October 9, 2018

Lisburn City Centre hosts its annual Purple Turnip Festival in October with a family fun weekend. On Saturday 27 October from 11am until 3pm there will be a hive of activity in Market Square. Dance on the interactive light floor with DJ ‘Amazing Aldo’ and don’t miss his incredible magic show. Come and see the amazing display of creepy crawlies including a tarantula, giant African millipede, lizards, snakes and an owl. Enjoy making your own sand art picture and take part in our terrific turnip hunt; where participants will have the chance to win spooky prizes with cleverly hidden turnips around the City Centre.

On Sunday 28 October from 3pm until dusk, come along to Navigation House, 148 Hillsborough Road for an enchanting afternoon of activities. There will be arts and crafts for children and a magnificent bees and honey tasting session. Don’t miss other cooking and gardening activities and fabulous face painting. Once again, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council are working with Lagan Navigation Trust to bring you a spooky autumn event involving a lantern parade.

Chair of the Council’s Development Committee Alderman William Leathem comments, “Purple Turnip Festival returns to Lisburn for its 10th year in not one but two amazing venues with something for everyone. There will be plenty of free activities to keep the kids amused over the school holidays and I encourage you to come along and enjoy the Purple Turnip Festival. Whilst visiting the City Centre over the holidays, call into your favourite shops, coffee shops or restaurants with friends and family to sample the wide range of product and services Lisburn has to offer.”
