Penny Square Market in Lisburn City Centre has secured four innovative tenants following its successful Christmas Market and recent Wedding Fayre in which the courtyard on Haslems Lane was transformed with flowers, fairy lights and quirky wedding exhibitors.
New traders to Penny Square include Wonder Scents, offering a range of scented candles and burners, gift baskets and bath bombs in a variety of fragrances. Creative Cabins also reside in the Square providing upcycle furniture, handcrafted pebble art pictures and shabby chic, quirky homeware accessories. Garden Shred, the third business to secure a place, serves up gourmet shredded salads and tasty sandwiches as well as a range of other delicious plates. Lastly, Julia’s Ceramics who run pottery classes for children and adults including a ‘Baby Hand & Footprints’ session set to take place on Saturday 18th March.
The Penny Pods are permanent rentals equipped with heating, lighting and a secure locking system with the opportunity for traders to customise the interior to complement their quirky products.
Chair of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Development Committee, Councillor Uel Mackin visited the market and said, “I am delighted to see these new businesses setting up as part of the ‘Penny Pop-Up’ scheme. The investment by the site owners is encouraging to see and will support an increase in footfall and in turn spend in the City Centre. I encourage local residents and other visitors to come along and sample the new offering on Haslems Lane and the surrounding area.
With support from businesses in the City Centre the Square plans to recruit new and innovative traders as part of its ‘Penny Pop-Up’ scheme accommodating an extra 10-12 traders on a Saturday and Tuesday to complement the traditional Tuesday market in Smithfield car park.
