New Planning Portal launches today for NI Councils

December 5, 2022

The new regional Planning Portal is now live. Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council along with nine other NI councils and the Department of Infrastructure (DFI) will be using the portal from today (Monday 5 December).

The online portal is a modern upgrade and replacement of the previous NI Planning Portal (NIPP) which is no longer available. Online testing and stakeholder consultations have taken place over the past six months to get the new system ready before the end of the year.

The IT hub provides an enhanced online experience and a more efficient system for regional users. You can now submit planning applications online, make payments, view and track applications, review comments, request Regional Property Certificates and report any breaches of planning control.

Chair of the Council’s Planning Committee, Alderman James Tinsley, said:

“Today is a significant development in the Council’s Planning procedures as we continue to drive planning online in this digital age. With an intuitive modern interface, the new planning system makes it much easier for individuals to engage with the planning process. Lisburn & Castlereagh users can now access all planning documents and relevant information in one place. In addition, a public register enabling searches for historical applications across Northern Ireland (excluding Mid Ulster) will soon be available.

“We are delighted to part of this regional roll out. This is the largest joint IT project between central and local government to date in Northern Ireland.”

Online training videos are available, demonstrating the process of uploading online submissions and accessing public register sites as well as the new Consultee Hub.
