New Look Revised Masterplan for Lisburn City Centre
August 2, 2019
Earlier this year Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council consulted with residents, visitors and local businesses on its revised Lisburn City Centre Masterplan. Following the close of the consultation the responses were reviewed and the council is now publicly consulting on its ‘new look’ revised city centre masterplan.
Alderman Allan Ewart MBE, Chairman of the council’s Development Committee speaking about this latest public consultation, said: “The regeneration of Lisburn city centre is a key priority for the council; and following receipt of previous consultation responses we have enhanced the information contained within our masterplan. Progress on the initial 2010 masterplan has been taking place but we wish to finalise the future plans for our city centre.
“A vibrant city centre is important for the regional significance and economic potential of Lisburn Castleregh and will boost the night time economy. Our revised masterplan is aspirational, deliverable and we are delighted to have received comments to date from stakeholders. We hope that when our residents, businesses and visitors review our updated plans for creating more green space and regenerating key areas like Smithfield Square and Jordan’s Mill they will support us. Please take the time to respond to our short consultation of the city centre future plans that will have a real impact on Lisburn city centre.”
Paul Carr from the Department for Communities added: “Valuable feedback from the recent masterplan consultation has been taken on board to ensure that the Lisburn City Centre Masterplan is robust and represents a shared and inclusive vision for all. Please look again at the revised proposals and provide further views to continue to help shape the future development of Lisburn City Centre”.
The revised Lisburn City Centre Masterplan 2019 is now open for consultation and responses must be submitted online by the 29th August. The ‘new look’ Masterplan and online questionnaire can be viewed at www.lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk/consultations
