New Heritage Sign for Moira Village

July 29, 2022

Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council would like to invite residents and businesses’ of Moira Village to come along to Fine Coffee shop, Main Street Moira, on Monday 1st of August to view and comment on the proposed new Heritage signage for the Gateways to the village. Following on from Consultation with businesses and residents it was agreed to replace the current Moira signage with ‘Heritage’ style signage reflecting the conservation status of the village.

The new signage will compliment the rollout of a Heritage Shopfront Scheme across the village which is funded through the Small Settlements initiative. This scheme provides businesses in the village with the opportunity to avail of funding to upgrade their existing shop fronts to a ‘Heritage style’ shop front which speaks to the new ‘Historic Moira’ branding.

Chair of the Development Committee, Alderman Allan Ewart said ‘I’m delighted that the Council has availed of this opportunity to upgrade the gateway signage into the village to historic signage.  Moira is a significant village in the Council area and draws in many visitors. It is important to promote the heritage of the village with appropriate signage that announces the historic significance of the village at the gateways.”
