New Head of Service Appointed As Council Transforms

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has appointed Mrs Caroline Magee as its Head of Human Resources & Organisation Development (HR & OD). This appointment is timely as the Council makes further plans for its transformation journey.
Since 2015 the Council has worked diligently to deliver quality services to its residents. As it plans for the future it is seeking to deliver efficiencies that will allow it to enhance its service delivery, undertake capital projects and play its part in delivering the Lisburn Castlereagh Community Plan.
Councillor Nathan Anderson, Chairman of the Council’s Corporate Services Committee, congratulating Caroline, said: “I am delighted that Caroline has been awarded the position of Head of HR & OD. She has worked for the Council in various HR & OD roles over the years. Her practical and strategic experience will be key to helping deliver our transformation plan, which has been designed to create teams that are skilful at delivering cross-cutting projects and services in a timely and cost effective manner. I wish Caroline every success in her new role.”
Caroline is delighted to have led on recent achievements of the Council: Investors in People Silver Accreditation, the Elected Member Development Charter and the USEL Employer of the Year 2018 (Public Sector).
David Burns, Chief Executive of the Council added: “I am delighted to have Caroline on board as our Head of HR & OD where she will lead her team as they play a significant part in Council’s transformation journey. As a council we need ensure we have the right people doing the right things and I have no doubt Caroline will help us achieve this. In the short time Caroline has been in post, we have managed to offer permanent contracts to 36 long-term temporary staff. This provides our staff with greater assurances for their future while allowing the Council to retain hard working, high performing employees.”
Caroline has been a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) for 14 years. She lives locally with her husband and two sons and spends most of her evenings and weekends being a taxi driver for their many pursuits. Her interests include Latin American and Ballroom dancing, cycling (fair weather), reading and music. She particularly enjoys the brighter mornings when she can get a few miles of walking in before work.
