Mayor's virtual quiz raises funds for local foodbanks
March 5, 2021
Last week, the Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Nicholas Trimble, hosted a virtual quiz night to raise funds for his chosen Mayoral charities, Lisburn Foodbank and Dundonald Foodbank.
The evening was well attended by residents and local quiz enthusiasts who put their knowledge to the test in aid of charity.
The Mayor said: "It was great to see so many people from across the council area log on for a bit of craic together and to test their quizzing ability. Special thanks to Harry and George who were our quizmasters for the night, and also to Michael for the technical know-how to bring it all together. The night was a success and raised £259 for the Foodbanks in donations from those who took part.
“Despite the challenging times we’re all going through, it was fantastic to see so many residents enjoying some fun and engaging virtually together. Congratulations to our winners, we hope you enjoy your prizes.
“Due to COVID-19, traditional fundraising opportunities are unable to take place at this time and we are extremely grateful to everyone who donated online.
“These funds will be very beneficial to Dundonald Foodbank and Lisburn Foodbank in continuing to provide and deliver vital supplies to those most vulnerable in our community.”
