Mayor Wishes Gymnasts a Successful Italian Training Camp
July 22, 2015
The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Thomas Beckett, was pleased to wish a team of gymnasts from Salto Gymnastics Club who are heading off to Vercelli Italy on a week of gymnastics training a very successful time.
The group of boys are aged 13-19 years. They will be accompanied by their trainers as they head off to a top gymnastics club in Italy.
The Mayor was visiting Salto with Dame Mary Peters DBE CH and met the group of gymnasts. He said: “The standard of work and training at Salto is absolutely fantastic. I was chatting with the trainers and young people and had the opportunity to see the work that takes place. I understand this is the first time that a camp like this has been organised outside of the UK.
“I am advised that a large amount of fund-raising took place to make sure the trip happened and I know parents will have been really busy doing this. I hope the boys have a fantastic time and develop the skills that are so clearly evident,” concluded the Mayor.
