Mayor Congratulates Local Pupils on Their GCSE Results

August 23, 2018

The Mayor, Councillor Uel Mackin would like to congratulate all local pupils on their recent GCSE results.

Speaking about results day, the Mayor said: “For many young people and their parents results day is met with both apprehension and excitement. As pupils headed to one of the local post primary schools today to get their GCSE results and meet with friends, teachers were present to offer congratulations, support and guidance.

“The high calibre of results achieved today is testament to the quality of education provided by schools in the Lisburn Castlereagh area. To our pupils I would say your GCSEs are your second examination milestone, after your transfer test, and offer you a number of opportunities.

“You can return to school and do your AS and A Levels, you can enrol in a course at the local college or go straight into employment. Results Day marks the start of your journey to fulfil your dreams, irrespective of the grades obtained today, and I wish each of you every success on your journey.

“I would also thank the principals, teachers and the local post primary schools for all the help and assistance they have provided the pupils with over the last two years; and I am confident that each young person will have positive memories of studying for their GCSEs.”
