Mayor and Mayoress meet the Earl and Countess of Wessex

The Mayor and Mayoress of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Thomas Beckett, and Mrs Linda Beckett, were delighted to meet His Royal Highness, Prince Edward and Her Royal Highness, the Countess of Wessex at the Royal Garden Party held in the grounds of Hillsborough Castle yesterday.

The Mayor said:  “ We were fortunate enough to spend a few moments chatting with their Royal Highnesses.  I advised that I was at the Garden Party as Mayor of the newly formed Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council with my wife, the Mayoress, and, that the new Council encompassing Lisburn and Castlereagh, is bedding in following local government reform.

“I also conveyed my best wishes to the royal couple on behalf of the people of the Council’s area to Her Majesty The Queen as the United Kingdom’s longest-reigning Monarch.

“It was a pleasure to be in attendance at Hillsborough Castle,” he concluded.
