Mayor and Deputy Mayor elected for Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council

Councillor Brian Bloomfield, MBE (UUP) has been elected Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council at the Council’s Annual Meeting, held tonight (14th June) 2016.
Alderman Stephen Martin (APNI) was elected as Deputy Mayor.
The Mayor was proposed for election by Alderman Michael Henderson. The proposal was seconded by Councillor James Baird and supported by all Council Members.
The Deputy Mayor was proposed by Alderman Geraldine Rice and seconded by Councillor Owen Gawith. The proposal was also supported by all Elected Members.
The new Mayor, Cllr Bloomfield, thanked his Council colleagues for their support and paid tribute to the outgoing Mayor and Mayoress.
“This is a great personal honour and a privilege,” he said. “My aspiration is to reach out to all parts of the Council area and I look forward to working towards a safer, unified and prosperous Council area for the betterment of all.”
The Mayor will announce details of his Mayoral Charity at the Full Council Meeting at the end of June.
The Mayor also thanked his family for their support.
