London is the Flavour for Lisburn Castlereagh Food & Drink Businesses

January 19, 2018

As part of Made in Lisburn Castlereagh, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is offering ten local food and drink companies the exciting opportunity to take part in its first ever dedicated four day Food and Drink Trade Mission to London this April (18th - 21st).

This trade mission will offer local business participants the budding opportunity to engage with potential buyers at face to face meetings, network at the high-profile annual Lisburn Castlereagh at Westminster event and participate in a group trade stand at a London based market, showcasing their finest, flavoursome offerings produced in Lisburn Castlereagh.

Alderman Allan Ewart MBE, Chairman of the Council’s Development Committee, said: “This is the first trade mission the Council has led to London and we are delighted to have the opportunity to profile our successful local food and drink companies.  Within our council area we have a strong history of local drink and food producers exporting their unique products from Hilden Brewery to Hannan Meats.  This trade mission will allow up and coming as well as established local producers to pitch their products and services to the market potential of Great Britain and increase their export customer base.

“The Council is delighted that this inaugural trade mission will coincide with its 2018 Westminster event, which is attended by over 200 high-profile delegates including local businesses, potential developers, ambassadors and senior politicians in a bid to develop trade links with Great Britain and foster relations with suppliers and customers.  If you are a local food or drink producer and don’t want to miss out please sign up for this trade mission and avail of budding opportunities to expand your business within the UK.”

Alice McIlhagger, owner of Brambleberry Jams, speaking about this opportunity, said: “The Council will also be profiling the businesses that take part as part of the wider Made in Lisburn Castlereagh brand, which promotes the innovative products and talent that is prevalent in the Council area.  The Council is extremely proud of its businesses and showcasing them to different markets as part of its wider investment programme.”

Due to the Council’s substantial contribution each participating business will only be required to pay £250 (ex. VAT) as their contribution to the programme that will include travel and accommodation.

Places are limited.  The London Trade Development Mission is now open for recruitment and if you are a business based within the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area and interested in finding out further information please contact Caroline Diamond on 07825 147191 or email: caroline@diamond-consulting.co.uk before 12 noon on Friday 26th January 2018.
