Local nominations for Pride of Place Awards
July 11, 2018
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has nominated three local community organisations for the prestigious 2018 Co-operation Ireland Pride of Place Awards, which recognise the work carried out by communities from all over Ireland.
Judges from the Pride of Place Awards recently visited the local nominees, namely; Sunflowerfest (in the category: Creative Place Initiative), Maghaberry Community Centre (in the category Population 2000 – 5000) and Ballybeen Men’s Motivation Group (in the category Community Wellbeing Initiative).
Speaking about the nominees Chairman of the Council’s Leisure & Community Development Committee, Alderman Paul Porter, said: “This competition is based on communities demonstrating directly to the judges the pride they have in their local area through the contribution they make and I have no doubt that the nominees from Lisburn & Castlereagh have done this to a high standard when the judges visited. Each of the nominees are an integral part of our local community and enjoy a real partnership with the council. We wish them all well and look forward to the winners being announced at the Awards Ceremony held on Saturday 17th November in Cork. As we await the results I know that the individuals involved in all three nominated organisations will continue to take great pride in their achievements and the council will continue to recognise all the good work they do.”
Co-operation Ireland, its local authority partners and its headline sponsor IPB Insurance are proud to present the prestigious Pride of Place Competition for the 16th consecutive year. The competition has enjoyed tremendous success and continues to grow in terms of prestige and popularity.
