Local Eateries Top the Food Hygiene Rating Chart

An impressive 93% of eateries in the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area have been awarded a rating of 4 (good) or 5 (very good) for food hygiene.

133 eateries across Lisburn Castlereagh after assessment received the highest rating of 5 which is excellent news for these businesses, residents and visitor alike.

Councillor James Baird, Chairman of the Council’s Environmental Services Committee, said: “The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme provides information on the food hygiene standards of local businesses to help you choose where to eat out or shop for food.  You can easily view the rating of a business by looking at the black and green food hygiene sticker displayed near each entrance to the property.

“Alternatively if you are at home and planning a night out with family and friends then you can check the ratings of local restaurants online at www.lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk/foodhygieneratingscheme or by downloading the UK Food Hygiene Ratings App on to your smartphone or tablet. 

“The Council’s Food Safety Officers inspect food outlets such as restaurants, takeaways, supermarkets and grocers to check that their hygiene standards meet legal requirements.  It is not only how hygienically the food is handled that is assessed but also the condition of the building and staff training regarding food hygiene to name but a few.”

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council would encourage everyone to come along and sample the food in any of its highly rated eating establishments from Lisburn to Dundonald and from Moira to Saintfield.
