Local Community Groups Can Find Out About Council's Community Festivals Fund at Workshops

January 26, 2018

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has launched its £57,000 Community Festivals Fund, jointly funded by the Council and the Department for Communities (DfC), giving local constituted groups the opportunity to apply for funding for locally based festivals.

The Council is hosting two public information workshops to provide applicant organisations with information relating to the completion of applications to the Community Festivals Fund.  Dates are Tuesday 30th January in the ISLAND Arts Centre at 6.00pm and on Wednesday 31st January in Bradford Court at 6.00pm.  To register for this workshop please contact Lynda McCord, Arts Administration Assistant on T: 028 9250 9503. Please note registration is essential for these public information workshops.

Last year the Fund supported a range of festivals across the Lisburn Castlereagh area, including sports, heritage and arts programmes as well as children and family activities.

Alderman James Tinsley, Chairman of the Council’s Leisure & Community Development Committee, strongly encourages groups across the Council area to apply for a Community Festival Grant.

“The Community Festivals Fund gives our local groups the opportunity to access funds to organise and celebrate festivals in their own communities.  With £57,000 available for our local community groups to access this is an ideal way for local communities to work together to create something very special for everyone,” said Alderman Tinsley.

Tracy Crothers from Maghaberry Community Association was pleased to help launch the 2018-2019 Community Festivals Fund with Alderman Tinsley.

The Council is piloting a new online grant management system and all applications for this fund should be submitted through this system.  To complete your application log on to www.lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk/communityservices

The closing date for the receipt of completed applications is 16th February at 4.00pm. Late applications will not be accepted.

All grants are subject to the availability of funding from the DfC.
