Lisburn City Centre welcomes ‘Kiddie Countdown to Balmoral Show'

April 21, 2017

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council once again hosts Kiddie Countdown to Balmoral Show in Market Square, Lisburn City Centre. Come along on Saturday 6th May from 12pm until 3pm and see Balmoral favourite Kinedale Donkeys & Carriages where you will have the opportunity to take part in free donkey rides along Market Square and Bow Street, taking in the shops and eateries along the way.

Children can enjoy free activities including animal themed face painting, fun mechanical pony rides as well as pop in sessions hosted by doodlebug creative workshops using recycled and everyday objects to make weird and wonderful sheep and animal pen creations.

If that’s not enough, Be My Bear will also be on hand to deliver animal making workshops. Their innovative making kits allow children of all ages to make their very own customized bear, pony or lamb! The kit includes animal covering with zip, super soft stuffing and even a birth certificate to name and personalize your animal. To register for this workshop in advance, please call 9244 7543 or email sophie.mcauley@lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk. Please note registration is on a first-come-first-served basis with workshops lasting 30 minutes. This workshop costs £5 to attend. Payment will be taken on the day of the event and children must be supervised at all times.

Chair of the Council’s Development Committee Councillor Uel Mackin comments, “It is great to see Lisburn City Centre is hosting an event to mark the lead up to Balmoral Show which celebrates its 149th year. The Balmoral Show is set to enjoy another successful year with tens of thousands of event goers flocking to Ireland’s largest agri-food show to enjoy food, farming and entertainment.

“Don’t forget to come and visit the Lisburn & Castlereagh Marquee and shopping village at the show with 17 City Centre businesses exhibiting. Please check out their stands as well as their promotions in the run-up to and during the Show. I encourage you to attend both events in the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council calendar which are set to be a superb family day out.”
