Lisburn Castlereagh remembers those in our frontline services in a minute’s silence
April 28, 2020
The Mayor, Councillor Alan Givan said a few words this morning at Lagan Valley Island where the council flag is flying at half-mast to remember those in our frontline services who have died because of Coronavirus.
He said: “A minute’s silence does not seem long enough to remember those who lost their lives in the line of duty to Coronavirus. However, to have the whole Lisburn Castlereagh community be silent together for one minute is a fitting act of gratitude to those doctors, nurses and carers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the service of others during this pandemic.
“This morning we all came together from our homes and places of work to observe a minute’s silence to remember the selfless devotion of these professionals. As the silence ends, can I please ask everyone to stay home and save the lives of those who are going out every day to work and serve the public in the fight back at coronavirus. We must all play our part and keep our families and friends safe at this time.”
