Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council Sprint into Summer!
June 5, 2015
This summer, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is encouraging people from across the City to get active and enrol on a summer activity scheme or sports course. You will be spoilt for choice!
Kick start the summer fun and keep your little ones busy, from swimming to gymnastics, hockey to athletics, there is something for everyone. For those who are little more adventurous why not try water skiing and wakeboarding or get your skates on and go ice skating.
Our summer schemes provide children with a fantastic mix of coached activities including arts and crafts. For something more sports specific, try one of our sports schemes or courses; rugby, baseball, basketball, netball, racquet sports or Gaelic football to name but a few. They are the perfect introduction to sport and cater for every level.
Chair of the Leisure and Community Development Committee, Alderman Paul Porter is calling for everyone to leap into action this summer. “Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council aims to support and promote health and wellbeing within the City so we are delighted to offer a varied selection of activities, summer activity schemes and sports courses at our facilities throughout the summer months.
“With the current focus of childhood obesity worryingly on the rise, our summer activity programme not only provides the perfect platform for children to get active but most importantly is a stepping stone towards a lifetime of physical activity.”
For further information on all activities taking place during the summer, please pick up a copy of our Summer in the City Guide from your local leisure or community services facility or check out www.lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk or call 028 9250 9460.
