Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council promotes responsible recycling at local ‘Bring Facilities’
February 4, 2022
Maghaberry Community Association has welcomed an extension to bring bank facilities in the village with Chair of Environmental Services, Councillor Andrew Ewing.
The additional facilities were funded by the 2021/22 Local Investment Plan and gives local residents more recycling options by being able to bring cardboard and plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays, as well as glass and textiles for recycling.
Tracey Crothers, Maghaberry Community Association member and Maghaberry Community Centre manager, said: “We are glad to see further investment in the village through these added recycling facilities.
“It is a big help to local residents to have these added facilities closer to home to ensure that we can all recycle as much as possible."
Chair of Environmental Services, Councillor Andrew Ewing said: “We would encourage residents in the Lisburn Castlereagh area to use their local bring bank facilities as it is now easier than ever to recycle and reduce waste going to landfill.
“Lisburn and Castlereagh currently has 37 ‘bring facilities’, each offering a range of recycling options, in addition to kerbside recycling and the local Household Recycling Centres. It has never been easier to recycle.
“It is important to check the council website to find your nearest Bring Facilities and check what materials can be accepted there to avoid disappointment.
“We are asking everyone to ensure that these sites are used responsibly by making sure that they put the right materials in the right container, taking care not to contaminate the recycling with plastic bags.
“The containers are checked and emptied regularly, but if on occasion the container you need is full, do not leave the materials beside the container, instead try another day, another ‘Bring Facility’ or visit your nearest Household Recycling Centre.
“Do not bring general waste to the local Bring sites – this should be taken to your nearest Household Recycling Centre for disposal.”
