Lisburn Castlereagh Businesses Encouraged to Sign Up to 'Business Games Challenge'
February 11, 2020
The three stage Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council ‘Business Games Challenge’ is now open for team entries from businesses across the Lisburn Castlereagh area.
It will take place between 26th February and 25th March at Lagan Valley LeisurePlex and Dundonald International Ice Bowl between 6.30pm and 8.30pm. The game stages are: Dodgeball on Wednesday 26th February, Futsal 5-aside Football on Wednesday 11th March and Ten-pin Bowling on Wednesday 25th March. These games are open to everyone and are suitable for all fitness levels both males and females.
‘The Business Games Challenge’, has become a regular feature in recent years in the council’s Business Solutions ‘Investing in Health, Profit in Business’ programme.
For the first time the council is offering local businesses the opportunity to try Futsal 5-aside Football, which is FIFA’s officially approved small-sided format of football.
Alderman Allan Ewart MBE, Chairman of the council’s Development Committee, speaking about the Business Games Challenge, said: “We are hoping that local businesses will once again support this innovative challenge and take the opportunity to burn off any work stress, socialise and network. These games give participants the chance to try something new in a friendly environment supported by their colleagues.
“I know a few businesses have made contact with the council already to get their teams booked in. If you have not already then I would encourage you to register your team as soon as possible as places are limited to 16 teams for dodgeball, 20 teams for futsal football and ten-pin bowling.
“Last year 28 teams took part across the challenge and they definitely demonstrated a great team culture across our local business sector. There will be winners at each game stage and the ‘Business Champion’ will be crowned at the end of all three stages.”
Alderman James Tinsley, Chairman of the Leisure & Community Development Committee, added: “The Business Games Challenge is definitely a fun, social occasion but with positive health benefits of participating in team sports; and this is one of the key foundations of the Invest in Health, Profit in Business Programme. I would like to thank the council officers involved in organising this challenge which supports one of our main goals of encouraging as many people as possible to become involved in physical activity to increase health and wellbeing."
