Lest We Forget

A Service of Remembrance for the Battle of the Somme 100th Anniversary Commemoration took place in Lisburn this morning (Friday 1st July).
With the Royal British Legion (Lisburn Branch) the Council marked the Centenary of the Battle of the Somme. A Service took place at the War Memorial at Castle Gardens in Lisburn. Prayers were made and a minute’s silence was held. Wreaths were laid by Alderman Stephen Martin, Deputy Mayor, Chief Executive Dr Theresa Donaldson and Capt (Retd) Raymond Corbett, President of the Royal British Legion (Lisburn Branch). The Service was led by the Reverend Dark, the Royal British Legion Lisburn Branch Padre and was attended by members of the public. The Deputy Mayor, Alderman Stephen Martin, read “In Flanders Fields”.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old, Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning. We will remember them.
