LCCC investing in a healthier, happier workforce

March 6, 2019

As part of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s ‘Love Yourself’ week, council staff are being encouraged to pick up some practical advice and tips on looking after their wellness during its Health and Wellbeing Fair on Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 March.

The event is taking place in Lagan Valley Island and supports the council’s continued commitment towards encouraging living well among employees at all stages of life. This is one of the elements of the assessment of the Investors in People Standard, in which the council was proud to achieve the Silver accreditation.

Staff are benefitting from information and advice on health issues, personal wellbeing support, mental wellbeing and guidance on healthy eating and weight loss. Exhibitors include Cancer Focus NI, Carers NI, Parenting NI, ONUS, Action on Hearing Loss and Cruise Bereavement to name a few.

Cllr Nathan Anderson, Chair of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Corporate Services Committee, said: “With over 700 individuals in full-time employment, we realise that staff are, without a doubt, the council’s most important asset. And we recognise that creating a positive, safe and healthy environment for our employees will have a huge impact on our service delivery.

“We’re committed to supporting our staff by creating a culture where their health and wellbeing is paramount. This Health and Wellbeing Fair is an opportunity for employees to interact with different experts in the field and take steps towards a better lifestyle.”
