Hillsborough Forest Park is now open for locals to undertake their daily exercise in
April 23, 2020
This is for pedestrian access only and DAERA and the Council would like to remind everyone of the government guidance to stay local. The car park will not be open, therefore we remind users of the Forest Park, who should be locals, to walk, run or cycle to this destination.
As the Forest Car Park will not be open, local Blue Badge holders are asked to visit Wallace Park where designated parking will be available from 12-2pm.
In the interests of social distancing, we request visitors to follow the directional signage around the lake and pathways in the Forest Park. Everyone should adhere to this route.
It is essential for the safety of everyone that a social distance of two metres is maintained at all times when using this public space, especially when there is a concern about the spread of coronavirus.
DAERA and the council both welcome the support of the PSNI who will be placing signage in the area to remind people there is no vehicle access to Hillsborough Forest Park; and they will be closely monitoring the traffic situation. Remember exercise should start at your front door, not your car door!
Council and Forest Service staff will be present throughout the day to ensure social distancing guidance is followed; and that there are no large gatherings of family and friends at any stage during the current lockdown. Anyone breaching the public health guidelines will be asked to leave the Forest Park, and if required, our colleagues in the PSNI will be notified.
We would also like to remind those walking their dogs to clean up after them as this public space is for the enjoyment of everyone using it at this time.
