Have your say on council’s Draft Performance Improvement Plan 2019/20
April 16, 2019
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council would like your views and comments on its Draft Performance Improvement Plan 2019/2020.
You can view the draft plan online now or by requesting it in writing. All feedback received will help the council with the ongoing management, improvement and development of its service delivery areas and help shape the final Performance Improvement Plan 2019/2020, which will be published this summer.
Councils have a statutory duty to set improvement objectives and have arrangements in place to ensure they are achieved. This Draft Performance Improvement Plan 2019/20 sets out what Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council will do in the year ahead. It's not intended to describe all day-to-day work that is carried out across the full range of council services. Instead, it focuses on several key improvement areas - the issues that matter to people the most.
The council has recently appointed a new Chief Executive, David Burns, who is committed to creating a more customer-focused organisation. David said, “This year’s plan will focus on delivering the highest quality services to those who work, live, visit and invest in our council area. Our aim is to improve the customer experience and increase customer engagement and accessibility to customer services.
“As a public authority, we serve the public so your views are of great importance and matter to us. This is a great opportunity for the public to give their valued opinion as to how we can improve moving forward. Please take some time to have a look at the plan and let us know what you think.
“There’s always room for improvement in any organisation and we’re continually monitoring our service delivery and how it can be improved for the benefit of our residents and the community. Your feedback will be extremely useful as it will help shape our priorities and identify improvements that span across all council services.”
A summary of the responses will be given to the council’s Governance and Audit Committee to shape the final Performance Improvement Plan 2019-20.
The Performance Improvement Plan will be followed by a self-assessment report, setting out how the council has performed against its objectives. This will be published in autumn 2020.
As part of the council’s improvement journey, progress against these new objectives will be evaluated on an ongoing basis over the course of the next year and a self-assessment report will be published thereafter. This will help to create and influence future improvement requirements across the council.
