Great turnout at the Colour Run, Wallace Park, Lisburn

June 4, 2018

Over four hundred participants enjoyed a splash of colour at Wallace Park, Lisburn on Saturday 2nd June when they gathered together to take part in the second year of the popular and most colourful 5K run, ‘The Color Run’.

Dubbed the ‘Happiest 5K on the planet’, the Color Run saw friends and families of all ages walking, running and jogging their way around Wallace Park, while being doused in a rainbow of vibrant colours.

Taking part in the event, the Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Tim Morrow said, “I was extremely delighted to run alongside the 450 participants over the 5K route.  It was a great day with lots of fun and laughter as well as bright coloured tshirts and faces by the end of the event!

“I am pleased to announce that we have raised just over £3,750 for my chosen charities, The Corrymeela Community and Habitat for Humanity. This amount will go a long way to help support both charities who both provide a valuable service in the local community.

“I would like to thank everyone who took part in the Color Run. Your support and participation is greatly appreciated.”

Chairman of the Council’s Leisure and Community Development Committee, Alderman James Tinsley added, “This was a fantastic event for friends and family to come together, to get active, to have fun and to try something a little different to a normal 5K.

“This was the second year, the Council have held the Color Run at Wallace Park and it was extremely encouraging to see even more people taking part this year and cheering others along the way.

“I would like to extend my thanks to those involved in making this event happen and I hope everyone really enjoyed the experience.”
