Flowerbeds Enhance Council Area

June 14, 2016

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Environmental Services Department has created floral badges depicting the Queen’s 90th Birthday.

While the Birthday Celebrations are now completed, the floral badges will remain in place coming into the summer months.

The Mayor, Councillor Thomas Beckett, pictured at the floral badge in Castle Gardens, Lisburn, said: “This planting has re-created a crown which was designed by the gardening team in tribute to Her Majesty and I would like to pass on my congratulations for a job well done.”

Councillor Brian Hanvey, said: “The flowerbeds have been painstakingly created and they can be seen at Bradford Court and Hillsborough Fort as well as at Castle Gardens.  We are delighted our celebrations have now been completed for the Queen’s 90th Birthday.”

Alderman James Tinsley, said: “On behalf of the Elected Members of Council I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the work for the Queen’s 90th Birthday.  From grants to community groups, beacon lightings and the recent 21-Gun Salute, there has been a lot of organisation.  This has been a momentous occasion, and as Queen Elizabeth is the longest-reigning Monarch I am pleased and proud that the Council marked this time.”
