Produce on offer will include award-winning chilli jams, relishes, and chutneys, artisan breads, cheeses and rare breed meats, alongside unique Christmas gift ideas from a host of traders all with a sustainability focus, such as Dundonald based Sow Grateful who will be joined by Ellie Mac Candles, Do your bit and more.

Speaking on the launch of Dundonald Christmas Market local Councillor Hazel Legge, Development Committee Vice-Chair said, “We are delighted to welcome a Christmas Market to Dundonald this upcoming festive season. It is great to be able to showcase a wonderful array of artisan food and craft producers within the local community. I look forward to seeing plenty of visitors enjoying the community festive spirit at Comber Road Square on Friday 3rd December. Hopefully they’ll also take the opportunity to get their Christmas shopping underway with locally made gifts.”

Visitors are sure to be treated to a taste of Christmas with food producers such as chocolatier, Ten Watch Chocoates who will showcase their unique Christmas offering with flavours such as mince pie, mulled wine and winter cinnamon. They will be joined by fellow artisan food producers including the much sought-after baking duo Spontaneous Deuce alongside Habanero Steve’s and The Local. Newcomer to the local food scene, Lisburn schoolboy, Nicholas Dennison of Rock Road Farm, will be selling his rare-breed pork products in what will be his first market.

Visitors to Dundonald Christmas Market will be kept warm and satisfied throughout the evening with artisan coffee, hot chocolate and cakes from the Suitor Coffee truck and a very tasty menu from fellow Castlereagh vendor, Urban Street Grub. Meanwhile Comber Road hospitality businesses, Little Thai, Cinnamon, Café Nosh and Lone Star Pizza will all be open to welcome marketgoers in with Christmas Market specials. Cordner’s Spar, Stacks Bookshop, Corries Butchers are also extending their opening hours to allow visitors the opportunity to avail of their seasonal offerings.

Sights and sounds of festive cheer will fill the air as visitors take in seasonal entertainment with live music from local artists. Younger guests and the young at heart will also be able to enjoy seasonal crafts and there is a rumour that Santa himself may pay a visit.

Aisling McCormick of Sow Grateful added, “As a small, family business we are really excited to attend the upcoming Dundonald Christmas Market. Opportunities like this are the perfect way for local businesses like us to showcase what we do and share our ethos of sustainability. The market is an invaluable way of raising awareness of the importance of supporting local, which is more important now than ever. We look forward to showcasing our wreaths made with foliage grown in Dundonald and arranged by us on our flower farm.”

Dundonald Christmas Market is free to attend and will take place Friday 3rd December from 4pm-8pm. The market will be managed with COVID-19 mitigation measures in place. The advice is to wrap up warm and join the festive fun.
