COVID Recovery Fund open for applications

Communities are the cornerstones of the Lisburn Castlereagh area. To support them recover from effects of the COVID-19 pandemic we are offering a COVID Recovery Fund.  Applications are open from today (29th November) until 12 noon on Friday 17th December 2021.

Local voluntary/community and faith-based organisations can apply for grants of up to a minimum of £1,000 and up to a maximum of £5,000.  All grant monies must be spent by 31st March 2022. 

This grants scheme is a partnership between Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council and the Department for Communities. 

Councillor Sharon Skillen, Leisure & Community Development Chair, speaking about this new opportunity for local groups said: “We are over 18 months into the pandemic and together we can get community services back on track. The council is delighted to be able to offer further financial support to local groups and organisations working in our communities. 

“The COVID Recovery Fund will provide groups and organisations with £1,000 to £5,000 to address changing needs in their community as a result of COVID-19.  This may be to adapt to their service user needs or increase their organisational resilience. It is important our local groups embrace this opportunity to not only recover but also futureproof their facilities and services. I would encourage all eligible groups to apply to reinstate existing services or create new ones.”

Councillor Thomas Beckett, Vice-Chair of the Leisure & Community Development Committee added: “Through this fund local groups can apply for a grant to improve their flexibility to meet the needs of new and existing service users through activities or training. It is our volunteers, our community spirit and partnership working that will help us all build a strong, healthy and versatile community to be enjoyed by all in the future.”
