August 4, 2015

The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Thomas Beckett welcomed Pastor Eugen Groza along with the Bethany Church Choir from Timisoara in Romania to Lagan Valley Island last weekend.

The forty strong talented choir have been touring the province for eleven days, singing at local churches and raising funds for the Deborah House Children’s Homes in Timisoara, which homes underage girls who are victims of domestic abuse.

During their visit, Lagan Valley Island came alive to the sound of music as the Choir performed three of their favourite songs. To round off their visit, the Choir was also taken on a guided tour of the Council Chambers and the Mayor’s Office.

Delighted to welcome the Bethany Church Choir to Lagan Valley Island, the Mayor said, “I feel privileged to have met this amazing group of people who are dedicated to raising funds for such a great cause.

“Their singing performance was absolutely superb and it will be something which I will always remember in my term as Mayor. Their enthusiasm and love of what they do is admirable.”

“The choir will be singing in Hillsborough Free Presbyterian Church on Sunday 9th August at 7pm and I would like to encourage everyone to come along and enjoy”.
