Council supports local hospitality and tourism industry with over £50,000 in grant support
June 5, 2021
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has awarded over £50,000 in grant support to 28 local tourism and hospitality businesses.
A range of businesses availed of this support to introduce initiatives that allowed them to make adjustments, re-open and plan for the future.
Alderman Jim Dillon MBE, Development Committee Chairman, visiting some of the businesses, said: “I am delighted we were able to offer support to hospitality and tourism businesses across the Lisburn Castlereagh at a time when they were impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. A number of initiatives are being supported including: development of outside areas including provision for individual group barbeques, technology to improve online services, equipment to accommodate more customers and even a boat to allow customers to fish in a local lake.
“Those businesses that successfully secured a tourism grant will also have the opportunity to work with our Business Solutions team. They will identify support or mentoring programmes to enhance their skills in areas such as digital, customer care and sales.
“I am confident our local tourism and hospitality industry will bounce back from the effects of the pandemic. I would encourage those residents and visitors who are planning a staycation to visit the Lisburn Castlereagh area. We have a number of hidden gems within our area in terms of accommodation providers, attractions and activities. I wish all our businesses success in the year ahead.”
