Council Remembers Her Majesty the Queen in Lisburn City Centre

September 13, 2022

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council will provide a series of opportunities for local people to remember Her Majesty the Queen and to come together to watch key events onscreen in Market Square in Lisburn.

Outlining the programme of events, LCCC Mayor, Cllr Scott Carson said,

“At this time of great sadness, it is important that we come together as a community and support each other as we mourn the loss of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.  For the remainder of the mourning period, Lisburn City Centre will be a focal point for people to meet up. You can watch live television coverage of the important ceremonial events together on the big screen in Market Square, starting with visit of the new King and the Queen Consort to Northern Ireland today. The Service of Reflection and Thanksgiving for the Queen in St Anne’s Cathedral will be shown later this afternoon.

"On Thursday, I invite everyone to join me at 11am in Market Square as we hold a minute’s silence in memory of Her Majesty. Our own local Service of Reflection will then be broadcast live onscreen from Lisburn Cathedral at 6pm on Friday. Our City Centre programme concludes with showing the Queen’s State Funeral on Monday 19 September.

"I hope that you will take this opportunity to gather as a community to comfort each other and remember the life of someone whose whole purpose was dedicated to public service for seventy years, Her Majesty, the Queen.”
