Council Opens Good Relations Grant Aid Programme
April 14, 2016
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is now inviting applications for the 2016/17 Good Relations Grant Aid Programme, which will provide funding for community relations and cultural diversity projects.
The aim of the programme is to financially assist and promote good relations between people of different religious and political beliefs, and racial groups, throughout the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area.
Speaking about the programme, Alderman Paul Porter, Chairman of the Council’s Leisure and Community Development Committee said: “The grant aid scheme is designed to support community groups and organisations involved in reconciliation and cultural diversity, many of which heavily depend on this annual funding as it is instrumental in the development and implementation of events, programmes and activities that address good relations issues within the area.
“We want to empower local groups and organisations, and I believe that with this programme, and the continued hard work of the Council’s Community Services Unit, we can continue to strengthen and develop the local community.
“The closing date is Friday 6th May 2016 at 12 noon, so hopefully this will give groups sufficient time to submit their applications,” concluded Alderman Porter.
Applications up to a maximum of £2,000 are welcomed under any or all of the following themes based on the Together: Building a United Community Strategy:
• Our Children and Young People
• Our Shared Community
• Our Safe Community
• Our Cultural Expression
Application forms can be accessed online at www.lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk/community. Should you require advice or assistance completing your application form, workshops have been organised at the Bridge Community Centre on Wednesday 20th April at 7.00pm and at Ballyoran Community Centre on Thursday 21st April at 7.00pm.
The Council’s Good Relations programme receives financial support from the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister (OFMDFM) and is committed to building effective relationships among citizens.
