Council opens Community Festivals Fund!
May 27, 2021
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is delighted to launch its Community Festivals Fund 2021/22. It will support locally based festivals across the council area through grant support of between £1,000 and £3,500.
Local constituted groups are eligible to apply online before 12 noon on Friday 18th June. Guidance notes and the application form can be found at www.lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk/CFF2122
Speaking at the launch of Community Festivals Fund 2021/22, Alderman Michael Henderson MBE, Leisure & Community Development Committee Chairman said: “As we emerge from lockdown we embrace the opportunity to invest in and support our communities. Through this fund they can deliver a vibrant, imaginative and responsible programme of festival activity.
“Our people are at the heart of our cultural city and we have creative individuals and groups who aspire to make things better in their local area by involving people of all ages and backgrounds in exciting events. I am looking forward to seeing how we can support a creative festival programme, spanning from July 2021 to March 2022.
“The Community Festivals Fund will support and inspire our local communities to work with us to ensure that arts and culture remain at the core of council’s place making agenda. We are especially interested in funding events that contribute to building a strong sense of community, improve community relations, help reduce social isolation and loneliness and support health and wellbeing.”
Groups are encouraged to develop and deliver scalable plans which can be adapted in-line with Government guidance.
The fund will support the development and capacity of festivals via support and training and encourage community organisations to celebrate their cultural identity, strengthen community relations while promoting equality and targeting poverty and social inclusion.
