Council encourages shoppers and visitors to use free parking in Lisburn and Royal Hillsborough

November 28, 2023

If you’re planning to shop in or visit Lisburn and Royal Hillsborough in December, you’ll be able to use all the council-owned car parks there for free – from this Saturday. (2 Dec).

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council (LCCC) has announced that the offer will apply to a total of eight car parks on the five Saturdays in December – 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th.

The Ballynahinch Street car park in Royal Hillsborough will be free to use as will those in Lisburn’s Antrim Street; Queens Road; Barrack Street; Smithfield Square; Governors Road, Laganbank and Longstone Street.

Councillor Caleb McCready, Chair of LCCC’s Environment and Sustainability Committee said:  “We’re really pleased to be offering the public the opportunity to park for free again this Christmas in both Royal Hillsborough and Lisburn.  And don’t forget that there is free parking already available in other locations across the whole council area.

“We’re hoping that this festive offer will help attract more support for businesses across Lisburn and Castlereagh while people are out and about, buying gifts or just soaking up the atmosphere.

“I’d encourage visitors and locals alike to pay our council area visit and see what we have on offer this Christmas time.”
