Communities across Lisburn Castlereagh set to celebrate Christmas

November 20, 2019

Twenty local community groups are getting ready to switch-on Christmas lights across the Lisburn Castlereagh area between 23rd November and 7th December.

These groups received funding from the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council ‘Community Christmas Tree Grants Scheme’.

Recognising the commitment of all involved, Chairman of the Council’s Leisure and Community Development Committee, Alderman James Tinsley, said: “Throughout the year our community groups work extremely hard to bring communities together; and Christmas switch-ons are the perfect way for residents of all ages to enjoy the magic of Christmas together with their friends and neighbours.  Each switch-on creates a real sense of community spirit and is the ideal way to mark the start of the festive season in Lisburn Castlereagh.

“The council is pleased to provide funding for such events and offer support to groups bringing Christmas celebrations to the heart of our local communities.  I would like to thank all those involved for organising these events and look forward to celebrating Christmas across the Lisburn Castlereagh area with our local community groups.”
