Civic Headquarters to Light up Red for UK Air Ambulances Week

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s civic headquarters will glow red on the evening of Wednesday 9th September to mark UK Air Ambulances Week.

This initiative is the ideal opportunity to highlight the outstanding work of local charity Air Ambulance NI.

Alderman Paul Porter, Corporate Services Committee Chairman, said: “Those living within the Lisburn area will have seen the Air Ambulance take off, on what has been a regular basis.  Over the last three years, this vital service of medics and pilots has been called to 1,695 incidences across Northern Ireland. Air Ambulance NI teams are trained to deliver critical pre-hospital medical care in emergency situations.  The team has supported other emergency services at road traffic collisions, agricultural accidents, falls, sporting, domestic or workplace incidents. We are proud to raise awareness of this important emergency service.”

Alderman Stephen Martin, Vice Chair of the Corporate Services Committee added: “We would ask our residents to look out for members of the Air Ambulance NI team as they take part in a two day cycle on 3rd and 4th October.  This is the medical team’s first fundraising activity as they will cycle from Enniskillen SWAH Hospital to the Royal Victoria Hospital.  We wish them every success and thank them for all their efforts throughout the year to save lives.”
