Chinese Tea Ceremony in Hillsborough Castle and Gardens

September 27, 2019

The Mayor, Councillor Alan Givan hosted Madame Zhang, the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Belfast, local business and tourist representatives from Lisburn Castlereagh and China at a Chinese Tea Ceremony in Hillsborough Castle and Gardens yesterday.

This event was part of the celebrations for the 70th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. The teas supplied at the event by the Chinese Consul were some of the most expensive ones in the world. The event allowed locals to embrace the Chinese culture which has involved tea for over 5,000 years.

Partnerships are important and during the course of this year the council has been proud to begin to develop relationships with China; and it looks forward to continuing to work with this great nation. Through a partnership with China together we can boost our local economies and international trade.
