CASC cuts out the competition in £2m expansion
June 17, 2022
Chair of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s (LCCC) Development Committee, Ald Allan Ewart MBE, visited CASC Engineering Northern Ireland recently as part of a business engagement exercise across the council area.
CASC, a global company who has completed major projects as far as Taiwan, plans to expand its headquarters across both its Lisburn and Carryduff sites. In addition, CASC is investing £2m in capital equipment so that it is the only engineering company in Northern Ireland to offer tube laser cutting, sheet metal fibre laser and 5 axis waterjet cutting under one roof.
The investment will see 40 new jobs being created and, with further plans for a global reach in Virginia, US, CASC hope to increase the number of new jobs to 100.
Ald Ewart MBE and other council representatives had a tour of the CASC Lisburn premises. Together they discussed future growth of the business, as well as the range of council business support programmes available. These included the International Trade Programme, which supports local companies to identify possible trade opportunities and partnerships.
Speaking about the visit, Ald Ewart MBE, said: “It is fantastic to get out and see first-hand the great work our local businesses are doing. CASC is at the forefront of innovation in the renewable energy sector and the growth of the business to date has been exceptional. The company’s plans for expansion are very exciting for the Lisburn and Castlereagh area and I look forward to working with CASC on future projects.”
Karl Crockard, Managing Director of CASC, said: “It is great to welcome Lisburn & Castlereagh Council along to see our newly installed tube laser and production lasers. We are very excited by this latest £2m investment and adding these new technologies to our existing engineering and manufacturing capabilities.”
He continued: “Lisburn is home for us and we are proud of the fact we manufacture components for the renewable offshore wind industry - sending them as far away as Japan and Taiwan and also for the agri, construction and material handling industries closer to home in Northern Ireland.”
LCCC will continue to visit a number of local businesses in a bid to engage and support the local business community. For more information on the council’s Business Support Programmes please email greg.allen@lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk
