Call for local veterans: Join Lisburn Museum’s Force for Change Veterans’ Project

September 6, 2021

Lisburn Museum is calling for local veterans to join its Force for Change Veterans’ Project aimed at giving voice to veterans and their families. The Museum has received funding of £20,000 from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust to create bespoke programmes with local veterans. Both organisations want to empower Armed Forces communities to become more engaged in their local area.

Lisburn Museum’s Force for Change Veteran’s Project works with participants to help them tell their stories of service. The project runs from September 2021 to March 2022 and works with veterans to address issues of relevance to them.

The Project presents veterans with the opportunity to access workshops, guest speakers and site visits.  It will bring individual group programmes together to culminate in a Force for Change exhibition and commemorative booklet.  The project will contribute to Lisburn Museum’s military archives and collections, for the benefit of present and future generations.

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council believes this project will develop a sustainable working relationship between veterans and its museum. It is supported by Alderman James Tinsley, the council’s Veterans’ Champion; the Royal British Legion and the Royal Irish Regiment Benevolent Fund.

Those interested in becoming part of Lisburn Museum’s Force for Change Veterans’ Project should register their interest by emailing Dr Collette Brownlee, Education Services Officer no later than 4pm on Friday 24th September: collette.brownlee@lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk or phoning 028 9266 3377.
