Every Body Active 2020 Lisburn & Castlereagh have launched their summer programme with an action packed outdoor event held recently at Castle Gardens in Lisburn.

The event, which was organised in partnership with Sport NI and the Policing & Community Safety Partnership, offered local school and college students a fun end of term activity with inflatable football, obstacle course and total wipe out game!  The PSNI also provided young people with advice on keeping safe and there was a BBQ to help refuel energy levels between activities.

The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Brian Bloomfield MBE was delighted to attend the event.  He said, “Every Body Active 2020 is a fantastic programme which encourages people to get active through an exciting range of initiatives and physical activities which are suitable for all ages and levels of fitness.

“With increasing sedentary behaviour resulting in growing cases of obesity across the UK, I hope people are inspired to get active and try a new sport or activity, which will hopefully see many take their first steps to a lifetime of physical activity or even encourage those with an interest in a sport to join a local club.

“I would like to thank Sport NI for funding the project and look forward to seeing many more people getting involved in the Every Body Active 2020 programme to help build a healthier and active City of Lisburn & Castlereagh.”
