Applications Now Open for Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Community Festivals Fund 2017/ 2018

March 21, 2017

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is pleased to announce the launch of its Community Festivals Fund for 2017/ 2018, jointly funded with the Department for Communities NI.

Adding a festive flourish at the launch celebrations are Councillor Tim Morrow, Chair of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Leisure & Community Development Committee, 9 year old Daire and dynamic duo Jazzmin McClure and Christina Nelson.

Established in recognition of the positive contribution that festivals can make to communities in increasing social cohesion, celebrating cultural identity and strengthening community relations as well to the local economy, properly governed community and voluntary organisations working within the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area are encouraged to apply for a minimum grant of £1,000 up to a maximum of £3,500 to deliver a Community Festival in their area.

Launching this year’s programme, Councillor Tim Morrow, the Chair of Leisure & Community Development Committee of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, said; “The City of Lisburn & Castlereagh has a rich, diverse heritage.  The Council’s Community Festivals Fund will only strengthen community participation.  The grant encourages projects which promote positive life changes while enabling our grass root communities to tell their local story as part of our city’s dynamic living culture.  I would encourage all interested groups to apply and to take advantage of the Council’s Community Festivals Grant and Information Evenings.”
