May 23, 2018
The Air Ambulance NI received a generous contribution of £1000 from a recent Church service organised by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council and Christ Church, Lisburn that honoured the City’s First Responders & Emergency Services. The Mayor, Councillor Tim Morrow kindly matched this sum by donating £1000 from the Mayor’s Office.
The Air Ambulance NI charity manages the operations of Northern Ireland’s Helicopter Emergency Medical Service and works in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and health trusts that provide the medical teams on board.
Based at the Maze Long Kesh, the Air Ambulance NI can reach any part of Northern Ireland in 25 minutes delivering lifesaving services during emergency situations. The critical doctor-led service aims to provide emergency room treatment to casualties on site as well as reducing the patient transfer time to hospitals. It has been estimated that the presence of the Air Ambulance NI will also improve the long-term health outcomes for up to 300 people annually.
The Mayor, Councillor Tim Morrow who attended the Service commented; “Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council and Christ Church, Lisburn are delighted to present £2000 to the Air Ambulance NI. This wonderful charity provides a life-saving service and carries out emergency missions throughout Northern Ireland on a daily basis.”
Councillor Scott Carson, Chair of Corporate Services Committee added; “The Air Ambulance NI requires approximately £2 million annually to maintain this service within Northern Ireland. As a community, we must continue to support this charity to ensure that this vital emergency function maintains a presence within our local area.”
Grace Williams, Area Fundraising Manager for Air Ambulance NI commented; “On behalf of the Air Ambulance NI, I would like to thank Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council and Christ Church Lisburn for organising this service and raising these necessary funds. As a charity, we rely on the generosity of the public to help us reach our fundraising targets.
