AB Pneumatics Buys One of Its Suppliers

October 1, 2018

Moira based business AB Pneumatics demonstrated sound business sense by acquiring one of its suppliers, Plastics 2000 in Lisburn when it recently went on the market.

Peter Blair and Jonny Boomer secured better financial benefits from Danske Bank, as an existing customer, to allow it to expand its product portfolio.

Alderman William Leathem, Chairman of the Council's Development Committee, meeting the new owners, said: "Peter and Jonny have once again shown their true entrepreneurial spirit by ensuring they continue to receive quality products from Plastics 2000 by buying the business. What better way is there for a local business to secure it’s the future of its products and improve cost efficiencies than a friendly merger.

"In a short space of time they have worked with the staff of Plastics 2000 to increase productivity through simple working pattern changes. This is great news for this local plastic fabrication company and demonstrates Peter and Jonny’s commitment to their employees and the future growth of the company.

"I wish Peter and Jonny every success in the future and I have no doubt that they will grow Plastics 2000 in a similar fashion to their successful AB Pneumatics company.  Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council looks forward to working with them and their two companies in the years ahead."

Plastics 2000 is a very versatile company that has the capability along with the experience and know-how amongst its highly competent staff, to provide injection moulded components of the highest quality to the food, electronics, construction, medical components and automotive sectors.

Peter Blair, co-owner of Plastics 2000 and AB Pneumatics added: “AB Pneumatics has bought quality products from Plastics 2000 for several years.  These components enhance the high quality of our seat air springs; and we didn’t want to risk losing this quality, therefore, Jonny and I made a joint business decision to make an offer to buy this company from Victor Livingston.  We are very thankful to Danske Bank for working with us on this business deal and we have expansion plans underway to grow this local business further.”
