September 21, 2021

An impressive 9,500 visitors descended on the stunning Moira Demesne on Saturday to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the vast array of foodie delights at the Moira Speciality Food Fair, now in its 6th year.

Hosted by the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, the ever-popular Moira Speciality Food Fair saw many local producers, traders and chefs come together to showcase their local delicacies to visitors of all ages from across Northern Ireland. The organisers were on hand to allow visitors to browse the stalls in a safe manner, in line with COVID-19 regulations.

Speaking about the success of the 6th Moira Speciality Food Fair, Councillor Hazel Legge, Development Committee Vice-Chair, said: “We know the Moira Speciality Food Fair is a favourite of the community and we were pleased to see it return this year. Once again, this year’s Food Fair did not disappoint as it showcased the highest quality Northern Ireland artisan and street food produce from within the council area and further afield. We are elated with the continued success of this event.  We would like to thank everyone who came along and supported the traders and enjoyed quality, artisan produce.”

Food-lovers from across the country and beyond spent the day enjoying the many diverse foods and flavours on offer from some of Northern Ireland’s finest artisan producers and street food vendors including, Moon Gelato, Ispini Deli, Hilden Brewery, Steady Neddy & Percy’s Coffee, Hughes Craft Distillery, Spontaneous Deuce Breads, Tempted Cider, Castlescreen Farm, The Hatch and Tribal Burger, among many others.

In addition to the incredible range of food and drink, the Moira Speciality Food Fair also offered visitors a great line-up of ‘non-food’ traders that focused particularly on health and wellbeing and sustainable living. Such traders included In Klover, Ellie Mac Candles and Mrs R’ganics. Also in attendance was new Hillsborough-based herbaceous plant nursery, Potters Hill Plants.

There really was something for the whole family to enjoy at this year’s Moira Speciality Food Fair, with activities on planting and games such as ‘spud in the mud’ hosted by Kinder Garden Cooks and interactive storytelling by Place to Wonder. Outdoor Kitchen Sessions featured locally based chefs with a passion for cooking on the grill outdoors including Moira’s own, Leigh Ferguson of Origin 101.
