£69,558 Awarded for Local Community Response

April 30, 2020

Under the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Community Response Fund £69,558 has now been awarded to local voluntary, community groups, and faith-based organisations across the Lisburn and Castlereagh area, to support them with the vital work they are doing to actively help our residents stay resilient at this time.

Speaking about the funding, Alderman James Tinsley, Leisure & Community Development Chairman, said: “Applicants to the fund, which was oversubscribed, will be notified today of the outcome of their bid for funding under the council’s Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Community Response Fund.  There are 31 groups who will receive funding, which altogether totals £69,558.  This financial boost for the groups will mean they can continue to provide support right where it matters; in the heart of our local community.

“The council’s role in supporting our voluntary and community sector has always been important, but lately this has been elevated even higher.  We will continue to work closely with all groups to deal with the challenges of Coronavirus and look forward to hearing about how our Community Heroes are making a difference to so many people across Lisburn and Castlereagh.”

The council would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the voluntary and community groups for the valuable work they are doing in our communities.
