In June 2018 the Home Office published further details on the EU Settlement Scheme via a Statement of Intent.

Today, the Home Office has issued an Employers Guide to the EU Settlement Scheme. Employment organisations such as CBI and FSB have been liaising with the Home Office to develop this guide and the local government associations have been consulted on the contents. The guide is available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/eu-settlement-scheme-employer-toolkit

Given the significant numbers of EU migrants who are working in Northern Ireland, I would be grateful if you could share this with your local business networks and on your website / social media as appropriate. NILGA has made all councillors aware of the scheme in the instance they receive direct enquiries from local businesses.

NILGA will continue to work with the Home Office to produce a regional information sheet which will provide signposting to support and advice services in Northern Ireland, develop a guide for local councils and to develop information formats that can be accessed by vulnerable groups. Posters in all EU languages will be available within the coming weeks on the Home Office website.

At present, NILGA expects the EU Settlement Scheme to open on a rolling basis from the Autumn, with the full scheme opening in March 2019, therefore more information will be issued in due course
